If you plan to take your very first IELTS, you might worry about what's new in the syllabus. Now, as per the official syllabus, you must know that there is no new edition you must worry about.

You can surely avail IELTS exam syllabus and pattern from AbroAdvice.com or any other service. The question format will remain the same, just like your seniors did earlier.

However, there are slight changes made in the format of each section. Continue Reading for the IELTS exam syllabus details below-

The Latest IELTS format

There has been a change to the IELTS paper test format. But the pattern doesn't change. Let's learn about the modifications and when they go into effect.

Earlier it was:

Listening

Reading

Writing

Speaking

30 minutes

60 minutes

60 minutes

11-14 minutes

4 parts

3 parts

2 sections

Face-to-face (conducted within 7 days before or after the main test)

Now, the sequence of modules has changed a bit:

Writing

Listening

Reading

Speaking

60 minutes

30 minutes

60 minutes

11-14 minutes

2 sections

4 parts

3 parts

Face-to-face ( conducted within 7 days before or after the main test)

You see, the order has altered somewhat, but other than that, nothing has changed.

There would be four listening sections, three speaking sections, two writing sections, and three reading sections. The written section will consist of more than 400 words, the reading and listening sections will have 40 questions, and the speaking portion will be a face-to-face interview.

What is the New IELTS Indicator?

If you plan to take the IELTS exam in the next few months, note that a new format called IELTS Indicator is now being introduced. Applicants can use this to take the test at home.

The exam is available for all four exam sections: speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Examiners for IELTS are marking the test in real-time from the other virtual side. You can access it if you have a computer, an internet connection, and the IELTS Indicator.

A few days following the completion of the Listening, Reading, and Writing exams in one sitting, the Speaking exam is given.

The following countries offer access to the IELTS Indicator. Make sure you confirm with the country in which you wish to move. Furthermore, you have to find out from the institutions/organizations whether the IELTS indicator score is accepted.
