Not a dealbreaker, but sometimes confusing if one is navigating one's browser tabs by icons, which, I imagine, might happen if one has a lot of tabs open, as I've seen some developerfolk do.

Oh okay so, I apparently did replace the png already, but there's also an svg.
In any case, I will also be replacing the following:
apple-touch-icon.png
avatar_default.png
gitea-safari.svg
gitea.svg
favicon.svg
Will post an update once it's deployed and confirmed working.

The SVG was converted online and as such Sucks™️ but it should do fine for now.

Ended up redoing the svg and regenerated it with make generate-images (src). That fixed the tiny space that was between the gitdab mascot and the background, which was frankly driving me mad.
