src soundfont: GM playback as the format and its fonts expect -- the attenuation generator applies at 0.4 (the scale General MIDI fonts were voiced at: FluidR3's hats and cymbals sat 13 dB under its snare, its piano 14 dB under a whistle); the volume envelope's decay and release fall in dB at 100 dB over their time (they fell in a straight line of amplitude, so pianos, plucks and releases rang far too long); velocity follows the format's default curve, (v/127)^2 (was sqrt: velocity 64 was -3 dB, now -12); the modulation envelope and both LFOs reach pitch, cutoff and volume (Fifths Lead's filter sat shut at 200 Hz: -55 LUFS, now -26); the filter's resonance is dB above a flat Q 0.707 with 1/sqrt(Q) gain; DC blocked per SoundFont voice (FluidR3's synth waveforms sit up to half their RMS off centre). SoundFontInstrument sets a note's gain from its own velocity, not its table row's. Across the GM programs' audition phrases the loudness spread (p10-p90) went from 14.5 to 11 dB. Checked: cargo test --release -p makepad-soundfont (18, new: decibel envelope, velocity curve); -p makepad-audio-synth --features instruments; makepad-score-live lib (71). 2026-10-01 15:18:43 +02:00
