3c2530d000 web memory diet: the 805 MiB at load was the ocean-high archive's 13 M-entry leaf directory decoded to 407 MiB per lookup round and evicted at once — leaves now parse streaming into a window around the waiting tile ids (LeafParseLimits); a phone policy on the web (deviceMemory, UA, touch + short side) caps wasm at 512 MiB with a 320 MiB budget; archive leaf/range caches, reads and bakes in flight follow the budget; packed tile bytes stay packed until the bake decodes them; terrain scratch sized to the viewport and dropped with the layer; Cx::memory_report by owner. Phone viewport 1334 → 308 MiB after a minute of pans, desktop 1208 → 588

cb572aee0f map-tiles: makepad-map-repack rewrites an archive to what the renderer reads
A new binary in tools/map_tiles streams an .mkmap shard by shard into a
new archive: every tile's protobuf is decoded, the osm_* tag tables are
rewritten to the reader's key whitelist, the field-101 shadow sections are
stubbed (regions and building groups stay byte-identical), field 100 is
kept, and the tile is re-brotli'd with the archive's own codec and
dictionary; leaf directories and root.mkidx are rebuilt, output is
deterministic and resumable per shard with a sidecar manifest, --tiles
limits a run to a Hilbert range or a z/x/y list, --dry-run reports and
--verify decodes both archives and checks the policy. On the 25 Amsterdam
start-view tiles: 95.1 -> 47.6 MB decoded, 30.6 -> 16.7 MB compressed.
A label sort tie-break makes the bake byte-deterministic for the parity
test.

a7eae82e41 map: the tile build keeps time with the platform clock
std::time::Instant trapped on every wasm tile worker; the profilers and stage timers
now use Cx::monotonic_now, and the native watcher, writer and their tests are gated
to native targets.

ad24534b94 map: persistent asynchronous tile archive over a completion-based byte source
libs/mbtile_reader gains pure root/leaf/blob parsing; widgets/map gains archive.rs with
a ByteSource trait, a file backend on the worker pool and an HTTP-Range backend over
cx.http_request, a TileArchive that fetches the root once, caches leaf directories and
dedups in-flight reads, and MapView::set_source_config so local archives and hosted
archives share one request path into the existing tile build and ready-tile delivery.

c460905e2a maps + route: the self-baking Amsterdam test map, reversible mkmap weave, the rtsmap generator, road faces, guarded first-run
Squashed from work:
- rtsmap: one seeded generator for tiled strategy maps
- map: bake a runnable Amsterdam test map from inside the route app
- route: the first-run test map starts itself, and its buttons are guarded
- map: the test map bakes its road faces too, from the same shared pass
- map_tiles: mkmap-extract — the weave is reversible, world-cells reconstructible from world.mkmap
- route: the local dispatcher rides the hub — its copied engine is deleted, limits preserved (aicore P1)
- route + converse: off makepad_ai — the Agent seam moves to converse, route's cloud dispatcher rides the hub's Claude p
- ai-hub: chats run the machine election — route to a serving holder, wait on a loading one, claim and publish when open
- libs: the zero-warning sweep — stitch casts say what they mean, xatlas keeps upstream's surface quietly

9d2e17e3b9 chore: README, workspace, agent docs, and the box-driving scripts
- README: a build quick-start for macOS and Windows, the honest Linux
story, what CUDA is for and how to install the separation model.
  - AGENTS.md: the `--remote` control surface protocol, so the harness it
documents is usable without reading platform/src/remote.rs.
  - Cargo.toml: workspace membership for the crates this series adds and
    removes.
  - tools/: the Windows box scripts (wincmd, winps and friends, winrun) and
remote_smoke.sh — how a build gets driven on a remote machine.
  - apps/asset-server: the standalone server binary and its README.
  - Small follow-ups in libs/{windows,apple_sys,makepad_test,mbtile_reader,
    converse} and apps/route, plus .gitignore and makepad.splash.

627f0bb04b Map: app reads .mkmap shards — MkmapReader + TileArchiveReader, varint-KV index v2
libs/mbtile_reader gains the .mkmap consumer: root.mkidx parse (Hilbert
tile ids, root ranges -> brotli leaf directories -> shard/offset/len),
positioned shard reads, same get_metadata/get_tile_decoded surface as
MbtilesReader; TileArchiveReader sniffs the path so mbtiles_path can
point at either. Index format v2 drops JSON: the metadata section is now
varint KV like the leaves (writer + reader; no serde in the container).
Loader, zoom-range probe and the headless harness go through the enum;
bridge-dz/overlay sidecars stay mbtiles. Harness parity via shards:
worst AMS rz16 164.7ms, z12 native 51.3ms — identical to mbtiles. App
repointed to local/maps/europe-base-br.mkmap (111 shards + root.mkidx,
the exact bytes a CDN would serve).

80d5967198 Map: Europe single-origin archive shipped — 51.8GB base + faces bake + .mkmap shards
Overnight run 2026-08-01: 9,380,390 tiles z2-14 in 3.2h, faces bake 1h
(+8GB, worker-side brotli q10), transmux to 99 shards all <510MB.
App repointed to europe-base-br-faces.mbtiles. nl-bridge-dz verified
byte-identical against the new base (deterministic feature indices).

1b0decc6c9 map: charger pin redesign, upright/billboard labels, 3D trees, exits
- Tesla-style droplet pins anchored at the tail tip (rotate around the
exact site point in tilted views); red exclusively Tesla, amber DC,
blue AC; Tesla pins show stall count, others peak kW
- in-pin text through the normal text renderer: billboard-anchored
glyphs (anchor scales with the map, glyph size constant), exempt from
  label collision/repeat culling, no halo
- upright camera-delta labels: straightened labels (place names, POIs,
brands, pin text) translate with the rotation gesture but stay
horizontal — no more rotate-then-snap on regen
- per-icon zoom floors baked in vertex param4 + live icon_zoom uniform:
stale deeper-bucket tiles never flash markers on zoom-out (param4 is
lift-height only for non-icon shapes — icons stay on the ground)
- motorway exit labels (street_labels_points): carto-red name + ref
- 2D/3D mode: tilt gesture syncs app state (TiltChanged action), tilt
release near-flat settles to exact 0, mode flip re-bakes tiles
(extrusions appear/disappear without a zoom nudge)
- Simple 3D Buildings: building:part volumes with min_height bases;
outlines containing parts flatten to footprints; famous buildings
with tourism=attraction extrude instead of dying as attraction fills
- little 3D trees in tilt mode: crossed trunk quads + sphere-slice
  ball canopy (architecture-model proportions)
- searchdb/mbtiles support work: reach-based distance ranking, direct
  tile lookup + writer ordering

f099c05750 map: Europe tile conversion pipeline + offline GPS navigator
Conversion tooling (tools/map_tiles): curated Shortbread base pyramid
from a VersaTiles planet archive (bbox extract, brotli->gzip transcode
parallelized per 256x256 block), all-tag native OSM pbf detail
converter, pbf audit, and nav-build/nav-probe producing the routing
graph + search index artifacts. download_map.sh orchestrates pinned
downloads and conversions. mbtile_reader writer now skips SQLite's
lock-byte page at byte offset 1 GiB — allocating through it corrupted
every database over 1 GiB ("2nd reference to page 16385"); the 31 GB
Europe conversion passes integrity checks.

Navigation (libs/map_nav, new): region.search place/POI/street/address
index (prefix autocomplete, NL/EN category synonyms, proximity
ranking) and region.graph routing graph (CSR directed edges,
car/bike/foot speeds, oneway, turn restrictions, snap grid, A*),
maneuver generation and the NavSession map-matching state machine;
26 unit tests.

MapView interaction layer: MapViewAction, camera API + animated
fly_to, overlay.rs (route polyline with traveled dimming, markers,
position puck), per-widget mbtiles_path override, archive
minzoom/maxzoom honored for tile requests, zoom-level cross-fade over
the previous level's imagery, floating panels win hit-testing.
examples/map is the navigator app: worker-thread search, Drive/Bike/
Walk routing, simulated turn-by-turn with banner, follow camera.
